Nokia 3310, in your browser

This emulator runs original Nokia 3310 NHM-5 firmware v5.79, released on November 11, 2002. The firmware itself draws the menus, runs the games and responds to the keypad. The page displays its actual 84 × 48 pixel screen.

Emulation runs on your device using WebAssembly in a browser worker. The server only delivers files. Phone settings and the virtual SIM are saved locally in this browser and are not sent to a server.

Controls

Press the buttons on the phone. You can also use your keyboard: numbers, ↑/↓, Enter to select, Esc or Backspace to go back, and P for power. Games use 2/4/6/8. Hold the top power button to turn the phone off. Sound starts after your first interaction.

Phone language

The phone starts in English. Russian is available in the original system menu: Menu → Settings → Phone settings → Language. The shortcut is Menu, 6, 2, 1; select Russian and confirm. The selected language is saved in this browser. The stock package also includes Bulgarian, Ukrainian and the original Russian T9 dictionary. The website stays in English.

Emulation

The Nokia DCT3 Emulator executes the phone's ARM/Thumb instructions and models its memory, display, keypad, power controller and software SIM. DSP and boot ROM behavior use high-level emulation. The model is not cycle-accurate for every chip and peripheral.

The virtual network appears as Orange F, a name from the firmware's operator table. It is not connected to a cellular network and cannot make real calls or send SMS. The upstream emulator has known clock and charging limitations.

Source code and credits

The emulator and page code are licensed under GPL-2.0. Download the license, complete corresponding emulator source and page source. Licenses for mGBA, swSIM, swICC and other components are preserved in the emulator archive.

Phone illustration: Nokia 3310 Illustration by Sathish. The editable Sketch artwork is included. Its static screen artwork has been replaced with the emulator's LCD output.

The original MCU comes from the Cosconor archive, verified against MAME checksums. Stock PPM E comes from the Nokia v5.79 installation package. MCU code and PPM E resources are unchanged. EEPROM was prepared separately for startup without first-use prompts. The firmware and illustration retain their respective rights and are not relicensed under GPL. See the version and checksums.
